From Alta Alella's organic Can Genis estate, just north of Barcelona and just two kilometres in from the sea, this is a Grenache by another name, Garnacha Peluda, which means the Hairy Grenache so-named after its hairy leaves.
Hand harvested, it's fermented and aged for 6 months on its lees in clay eggs. Red fruits, strawberry and raspberry, plus Mediterranean herbs on the nose. Lively, with grippy, Grenache tannins, bright acidity and minerality that's balanced by the lees.
