We are excited to welcome the wines of Goyo Garcia Viadero from the Ribera del Duero. Goyo, along with his wife Diana, embodies the meaning of minimum intervention when it comes to making wines. He’s a traditional wine maker but mostly because of what he doesn’t do. He’s making wines from single plots in some of the highest sites in the Burgos province, hand harvesting, destemming and fermenting with wild yeasts. Notting added. There are no herbicides or pesticides used on the land, no additives. These are natural wines from old vineyards.
Goyo talks of learning from the winemakers of the past, of finding ‘forgotten flavours and aromas’ by using ‘lifelong’ practices. Simply put he lets the soil, site, heritage and grape of each plot shine through. He harvests first for acidity, eschewing the fashion for big ripe, fruit forward, oaked styles that the region has become known for and we are hooked.
