Regarded by those in the know as the next superstar of the region Jonathan began his winemaking with 3.5 ha of vineyard which was given to him by his grandfather. Over the years he acquired more plots and he now owns 16ha which is certified organic and farmed biodynamically.
What was previously Florilege is now Leon and comes from Jonathan's older vineyards, spanning all his terroirs, clay, limestone and flint. Fermented and vinified in stainless steel and concrete vats on its lees for up to 18 months, with only natural yeasts to allow a pure aromatic expression of Sauvignon Blanc character – think citrus, gooseberry and herbal, grassy notes. The palate has lots of ripe grapefruit flavours with flinty/ smoky hints, but with surprising richness and weight.
