Finca Dofi, these days know as Dofi, from Alvaro Palacios’ original vineyard that he purchased on his arrival in Priorat in the late 1980s. Since his inaugural vintage in 1990, Finca Dofí has been has been the flag bearer of this historic region.
Essentially all Garnacha with a little bit of old vine Cariñena grown in the village of Gratallops in the heart of Priorat. Hand picked, old vine, biodynamic grapes that showcase just how wonderful old, almost abandoned vineyards can be. Aged for 16 months in large oak barrels (foudres) which gives the wine a purity and elegance, with a depth and grace that is just gorgeous.
The 2019 Dofi is bigger and broader than the '18 but still extremely accessible and immensely enjoyable now.
"It's classy, elegant and fresh with very clean aromas and flavors, not lacking concentration or power. There is superb definition and purity here; it has to be the finest and most elegant Dofí to date. It has finer tannins and more elegance than La Baixada this year. The 2018 was fragrant and this has more clout but superb balance. These two vintages have been great for Dofí. I still remember the 2005, hard as nails then and what the wine is now—spherical and velvety. Dofí on a roll..." 97/100
