A mix of traditional varieties from Serra de São Mamede

A Centenaria is a field blend of old vine, traditional Portuguese verities. There's hints of cherries on the nose, it's perfumed and there's promise of freshness. In the mouth there's definitely freshness, with good acidity and firm but gentle tannins. there's ripe red berries, blackberries and brambles and a touch of pepper. There's plenty of scope for cellaring the A Centenaria but it would be perfect right now too.

Serra de São Mamede is in the mountains of Portalalegre in the coolest subregion of Alentejo/Alentejano. It's surrounded by the forests of a national park and 700 meters above the plains of Alentejo, as a result Susana's style of wines are 'not' typical of Alentejo, they're fresher by design, more complex and with an elegance that surprises.

Pairs well with a rack of lamb, roast pork or a beef ragu.
