44% Merlot, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot
Potensac is often cited as being the perfect example of how a Medoc should be. The 2018 is an excellent vintage with potential for cellaring it's delicious now though with blackcurrants and black cherries on the nose, ripe black fruits, medium bodied with a hint of smoke and a pleasing minerality. Enjoy now or keep until 2029.
Pairs well with roast beef, roast lamb and cheese
Chateau Potensac belongs to the Delon family who also own Leoville Las Cases and Clos du Marquis in Saint-Julian and Chateau Nenin in Pomerol so the quality of this Medoc wine should certainly come as no surprise.Located in the northern part of the Medoc, Potensac’s vineyards roll over hilly mounds of gravel and clay, with a limestone subsoil, that is not unlike those of Saint-Estephe. This leads into the wines being finely textured, tight but with a richness and a freshness that is at the same time powerful and dense, with a long satisfying finish.
