ArPePe 'Sant Antonio' 2013 Grumello Valtellina Superiore Grumello Riserva
From 50-100-year-old vines in the Buon Consiglio and San Antonio single vineyards in the Grumello subzone of Valtellina, lying beneath the fourteenth century Castel Gremello that lends its' name to the wine. There's a little more subsoil here and that gives the wine a certain softness over its siblings, Sassella and Inferno, making them a little more accessible sooner.
"All about finesse and depth, this opens with enticing scents recalling underbrush, dried rose petal, camphor and perfumed berry. Structured and linear, the elegant palate features dried cherry, spiced cranberry and star anise set against a saline mineral note. Taut, refined tannins and bright acidity keep it vibrant.
