ArPePe 'Stella Retica' Valtellina Superiore Sassella, Italy 2017
This is Nebbiolo at its most ethereal and elegant, pale in colour, fragrant and fine, but with all of the varietal character that makes Nebbiolo one of the greatest of red grapes. Sassella translates as Rock in the local dialect. With long macerations, 50 days on its' skins and the incredible terroir, gives this wine a remarkable minerality.
"Fragrant and loaded with finesse, this lovely red opens with heady aromas of woodland berry, wild rose and camphor. Lithe and delicious, the elegant palate offers juicy red cherry, crushed strawberry, baked spice and a tangy mineral note suggesting granite.
