Adega Algueira 'Escalada' , Godello, Ribeira Sacra, Spain, 2018
A wine which clearly shows the massive potential of Godello as a variety. Fermented in old oak and chestnut barrels but matured in stainless, this is ayered and complex, with everything from peach and apricot to honey, almond and fennel. Richly textured but surprisingly lively on the palate, there is great freshness and amazing length.
Pairs well with grilled fish, roast lamb, pork, cheese
"The Escalada exemplifies Godello's great affinity for barrel fermentation & potential for aging. Often compared to good white Burgundy, age-worthy Godello is a good bet for laying down"
