Grape: 100% Pinot Noir
A Domaine that dates back to 1850 but is bang up to date in terms of style, wine making and conservation. The La Cassiere comes from a two hectare plot, lying below 1er cru Maladières and above Clos Genet in Santenay. Handpicked, minimal intervention, natural yeasts and no added sulphur, has helped create a truly elegant Pinot Noir. There’s oak but it’s beautifully supple, with only 25% of the barrels being new. The wine has a lovely perfume of red berries, on the palate it’s nicely balanced and all about the fruit, which is enticing raspberry. Polished, elegant and lively this is an absolute pleasure.
Pairs well with Spring lamb, roast organic chicken or roasted aubergine and cherry tomatoes.
