From 50-100-year-old vines in the Buon Consiglio and San Antonio single vineyards in the Grumello subzone of Valtellina, lying beneath the fourteenth century Castel Gremello that lends its' name to the wine. There's a little more subsoil here and that gives the wine a certain softness over its siblings, Sassella and Inferno.
Kerin O'Keefe wrote in The Wine Enthusiast (October 2020) "Initially shy, the subtle nose eventually reveals new leather, Alpine herb and wild berry. The savory palate has an understated elegance, offering Marasca cherry, pomegranate and graphite alongside refined tannins. Drink through 2027."
Pairs well with bresaola, grilled lamb, roast vegetables
