Chianti

Castello di Ama.

Castello di Ama is a stunning property and proposition. Set in the picturesque rolling hills of Siena, the vineyard is the essence of Chianti. In 1773 the Grand Duke of Tuscay, Leopold II, stated that “Amma…(is) situated in the best place in Chianti for wine.”

The current incarnation began in the early 70s when four friends came together, replanting the historic vineyards of Bellavista, Casuccia, San Lorenzo and, more recently, Montebuoni. While also reimagining the potential of not just the winery but of all Chianti. In 1982 Marco Pallanti joined as wine maker and in 1988 Lorenza Sebasti (one of the founding fours’ daughters) took over the running of the estate. Marco and Lorenza married in the 90s and together have led the way, literally, in elevating the quality of premium Chianti.

The touch points for the incredible wines of Castell di Ama are finesse, elegance, intensity, great length, freshness. Wines that evolve both in the glass and in the bottle, with inviting complexity and intensity. Wines that are beautifully age-worthy.

“It is the obsessive dedication to quality in both the vineyard and winery that has made Castello di Ama not just one of Tuscany’s greatest wine producers, but among the finest wineries in the world.”
