Go to the shopThe 2018 Il Pettitrosso comes from the winery's top sites, Sassella, Inferno and Grumello, and is a seriously good introduction to the wines of Arpepe and indeed to the beguiling elegance of 'Alpine Nebbiolo' and Valtellina.
The grapes spend 4 months on their skins and another 12 in used oak barrels, giving the wine certain dusty, dry tannins. There's red berry fruits, raspberries, strawberries, and cherries hiding behind the tea-like tannins that reveal themselves gently in the glass. Although this is a lighter, more delicate style of Nebbiolo there's so much going on it the glass and, as with all of Arpepe's wines, your patience once you've opened the bottle will reward you in spades!
