100% Merenzao (Trousseau or Bastardo)
Fine, elegant and beautifully perfumed, this Trousseau by-another-name is superb. The grapes are partially crushed by foot and whole cluster fermented before spending 12 months in oak and another 12 in bottle before being released. On the nose there’s delicate cherry and balsamic aromas, with hints of cedar and nutmeg. On the palate it has crunchy red berry fruit, crisp acidity, hints of nutmeg & spice, a distinctive mineral finish, all wrapped in a silky gloss.
Pairs well with grilled meats, slow cooked meats, cheese
"The Merenzao grape (aka Bastardo, or Trousseau in its native Jura) offers potency and age-worthy structure fleshed out by warm fruit character. Grown in Slate Soils and aged in French oak, this is a serious wine; juicy, complex and very balanced with notes of cherry lozenge and balsamic spice."
