Susana's Aventura wines are a celebration, and a result, of the spirit of adventure that lead her to become a wine maker in the first place. Susana began her adventure in 1999 in the Douro and in 2012 she was recognised as "Best wine maker of the Year" by Revista dos Vinhos, the only woman to have done so so far. She was quickly awarded "Revelation Producer of the Year" in 2015 by Wine-Essencia do Vinho"
The Aventura Tinto is an equal blend of Aragonez (Tempranillo) and Touriga Nacional, with the balance being a feild blend of native varieties. It has fresh red fruits and floral notes on the nose. There's soft, dark fruits, savory notes with a little spice on the palate. The finish is fresh with good acidity to balance the fruit.
Serra de São Mamede is in the mountains of Portalalegre in the coolest subregion of Alentejo/Alentejano. It's surrounded by the forests of a national park and 700 meters above the plains of Alentejo, as a result Susana's style of wines are 'not' typical of Alentejo, they're fresher by design, more complex and with an elegance that surprises.
Pairs well with red meats and soft cheeses.
