Mount Horrocks Winemakers dinner @ ELY Wine Bar Wednesday 5th October, 7pm
Stephanie Toole is the owner and wine maker at Mount Horrocks, a small, Clare Valley winery she purchased in 1993, and has spent the time since converting the vineyard firstly to organic farming, in 2014, and then certified Biodynamic in 2021. For a winery with such a lofty reputation, production is tiny - just 2500 cases annually across all the wines she produces. This allows Stephanie total control over every aspect of grape growing and winemaking. Riesling was Stephanie’s first love and her Watervale Riesling is an absolute classic, magnificently pure and intense, capable of aging but wonderfully approachable. Over the years she has since added several more strings to her bow- a superb Semillon, a brilliantly age-worthy Cabernet and a sublime, classy Shiraz.
Add to all that the Mount Horrocks ‘Cordon Cut’ – one of Australia’s truly iconic dessert wines, a wonderfully intense, and perfectly balanced sweet Riesling that fully deserves its reputation as one of the great dessert wines of the New World.
Stephanie will host a 3 course wine makers dinner in ELY Wine Bar, Ely place on Wednesday 7th October, where we will have the opportunity to taste all of these wines alongside some of the finest Irish cuisine. Tickets are €75 and are strictly limited.
