Our director of wine, Ian Brosnan, has selected three wines (two red and one white) that the ELY team have been enjoying after work as the bright evenings grow longer!

Tobia ‘Selection de Autor’ Rioja 2018
The incredible depth and concentration of flavour in this wine comes down to the quality of fruit. The Tempranillo, which makes up 80% of the wine, is sourced from a 40 year old plot and the Garnacha is from a vineyard almost 90 years young. These old vines provide the wine with an intensity of bramble fruit and cherry, cocoa and violet. The perfectly judged oak supports the fruit rather than dominates it, and there is a lively seam of acidity running through to the long, satisfying finish.
Brovia Dolcetto d’Alba DOC Vignavillej, Piedmont, Italy, 2019
Harvested from classic clay-limestone soils from plots in Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d’Alba, some planted in 1981 and the other portion in 1993. The grapes are crushed and fermented in stainless steel at 29 degrees Celsius for a period of a week to 10 days; then aged in stainless steel for seven to nine months before the bottling (unfiltered). Approximately 10,000 bottles are produced. -Organic
Alexis Pollier ‘Le Clos’ Macon-Milly-Lamartine, Burgundy, France 2019
Alex produced his first wine at the age of 21, and has now taken over the small family estate in southern Burgundy. His vineyards are farmed biodynamically, and his wines are all about freshness and clarity. This Macon is a perfect example of his style – apple and peach fruit on the nose, with a touch of honey richness on the palate, followed by a lemon fresh acidity and crisp finish.
