Castello di Ama ‘Montebuoni’ Chianti Classico Riserva 2019,Italy 2020
95% Sangiovese and 5% Merlot
The Montebuoni comes from a 14.5-hectare vineyard purchased and replanted in 1997. Adjacent to the Bellavista vineyard, it sits between 420 and 500 metres above sea level with a northwest to southeast exposure. This is the second vintage of Montebuoni and is a blend of 95% Sangiovese and 5% Merlot. Immediately inviting, with nearly all the berries present. Think blue, black and raspberries and some black currents too on the nose. Grippy tannins, beautifully balanced, refined, definitely elegant and a long finish.
Pairs well with cheese and charcuterie, ossobuco and pizza.
