ELY Wine Store Maynooth

Brovia, Piedmont, Italy

The Brovia family first established their winery in Castiglione Falletto in 1863, and is currently run by the 4th generation Elena Brovia, and her husband Alex, who continue the traditions and ethos of her ancestors- organically farmed vineyards, minimum intervention winemaking, and long, slow fermentations. Their wines are considered superb examples of a style that perfectly combines classic techniques, outstanding terroir, and a respectful approach both in the vineyard and winery. These are wines defined by their purity, elegance and complexity.

Wines Included:

Brovia Roero Arneis 2020

Hand-harvested in mid-September, the wine undergoes a cool fermentation for about 15 days, followed by aging in stainless steel for the following 8 months before bottling. A crisp, elegant wine, with green apple and mineral notes, and touch of herbal bitterness on the finish.

Pairs well with: Gilled fish, roast lamb and pork

Brovia Dolcetto d’Alba ‘Vignavillej’ 2019

Harvested from classic clay-limestone soils from plots in Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d’Alba, some planted in 1981 and the other portion in 1993. The grapes are crushed and fermented in stainless steel at 29 degrees Celsius for a period of a week to 10 days; then aged in stainless steel for seven to nine months before the bottling (unfiltered). Approximately 10,000 bottles are produced.

Pairs well with: Charcuterie, cheese, cold cuts and antipasti

Brovia Nebbiolo d’Alba 2018

Produced from grapes hand-harvested from sand-infused soils in the Valmaggiore vineyard site in the village of Vezza d’Alba, just north of Alba. This is a half-hectare vineyard that faces south at 340 meters altitude. The vines were planted in 1975. This wine is not oak-aged; rather it is racked into a stainless steel vat to age for at least one year before bottling. Approximately 2500 bottles are produced of this elegant, velvety wine.

Pairs well with: Roast beef, roast lamb and cheese
